What is Remote Support

When it comes to online computer repair there are countless choices on the Internet to choose from. There are large organizations and smaller businesses that are taking advantage of the fact that it is no longer necessary to be physically in front of a computer to fix it. When choosing the best online computer support make sure you know what to look for.

 

 

Price is not always the most important factor. There are many companies that offer prices that look to good to be true and when you call them they are asking for your credit card up front then they change their tune and say your PC problem is more complex and will cost hundreds of euros to fix. We don’t do that! Deciding if you want to take your computer into a physical store is usually the last thing anyone wants to do. Also many people do not feel comfortable giving their credit card up front to someone they don’t know. Will you need a monthly membership so you can continue to call in with additional problems? Was the company reviewed by a reputable, independent source?

 

Tech Ally uses remote assistance to help you with something small, as a teaching aid to show you something or to asses whether an onsite visit is needed. This service is provided Free of charge to all customers with a Support Agreement. For the occasional Pay as you go customer remote support is offered on a per problem basis although you will be assessed and informed of the cost before any work starts and you will not be charged if the problem is not fixed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is included in a service commitment?

Basically this commitment covers all your IT labour for a 12 month period.

You have unlimited phone support, unlimited remote access support and unlimited onsite support at your disposal to help solve anything from a small question to a big disaster.

In addition to this Tech Ally will provide antivirus protection for all of the PC’s and laptops covered by this commitment.

Tech Ally will also come out to your premises twice a year to service all of the PC’s and Laptops covered in this commitment.

What is not covered by this commitment?

Hardware is not covered. For example if a part needs replacing in a machine or if a machine needs replacing altogether the cost of parts of a new machine is yours to pay. However the onsite installation of either a part or a new machine is covered.

It is worth bearing in mind that the costs of setting up a new machine, restoring data and configuring it in to an existing network can often far outweigh the cost of the hardware.

Service outside or our normal office hours, Monday – Friday excluding bank and public holidays is not included in the service agreement.

What if I have an emergency and require out of hours and weekend support?

Tech Ally do offer an emergency callout service. There is a standard call out fee of €199 which covers the first hour on site and additional hours are charged at a rate of €99 per hour or part there of.

What is Remote Access Support and how is it beneficial?

Remote access support means that an engineer from our office can log in to your machine over the internet and take control of your computer. The benefits of this are obvious. As long as you have a connection to the internet an engineer can help you within minutes rather than hours.

This is also a very useful teaching tool. If you have a query on how do something, rather than stumble through directions over the phone an engineer can show you exactly what to do on your computer screen.

Is this Remote Access support secure or can anyone take control of my PC?

The System that we use is totally secure. Each time the remote support application is launched it will randomly generate a password that only you can see on your screen. For an engineer to take control of your PC he will need you to call out the password over the phone to him.

Once the session has ended the password will become obsolete and will not work anymore.

What is the point of servicing my PC’s and Laptops twice a year?

Computers are like cars. They require regular maintenance to ensure that they are running at their best. If this maintenance is neglected then the computer like a car will grind to a halt, start crashing and generally cause problems.

By servicing the machines every 6 months we can keep on top of the problems that inevitably build up over time, ensuring that your PC’s run as best they can. This service alone will eliminate many of the everyday annoyances that a slow and temperamental PC can cause. An added benefit of being onsite on a regular basis is that we build an in-depth knowledge of both how your system is set up and how you use it, enabling us to give you a much better support service.

What if I get a virus?

Having the correct antivirus installed will massively reduce the risk of infection. But if it does happen just give us a call. We have years of experience of clearing infections and can get you up and running again in no time!

What do you mean by a Pro-Active approach?

We wish to provide you with a service that aims to stop problems starting, not just react to a situation after it has occurred. By coming on site and servicing your computers, providing you with reputable antivirus software and not limiting your contact with us we know we can do that. Another element of our pro-active approach is that we can suggest ways of making your current IT systems more efficient and also inform you of any new technology that could be of benefit to you.

What do you mean by “Let us be your IT department.” ?

We mean exactly what we say. We want you to treat us as if we are your IT department located in the office next door. If you have a question, call us! If you have a small problem let us know, do not let it escalate! If you need advice, just ask! If you have a big problem, call us, firm in the knowledge that we will be with you as fast as we can.
